Urban Outfitters Speeds Turnaround Time on Orders with 60% Rise in Distribution Efficiency

Retailer Reaps Significant Return from Supply Chain Strategy, Including Increased Productivity and Visibility and Lower Labor Costs

It has not quite been a year since Urban Outfitters implemented the Supply Chain Solutions of leading supply chain solutions provider, Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH), but the innovative specialty retailer has already seen significant returns on its investment. It has increased productivity, visibility and product flow in its supply chain and improved collaboration with trading partners. Since implementation, Urban Outfitters has experienced

* 35% reduction in total headcount;
* 80% reduction in manifesting and invoicing processes;
* 60% rise in putaway efficiency; and
* 66% reduction in turn time through receiving, from 3 days to less than 24 hours

Urban Outfitters delivers unique shopping experiences to highly-defined customer niches through its Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People brands. The project began with the implementation of Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management and Performance Management solutions for Urban Outfitters’ direct channel facility in Trenton, S.C. to support the channel’s present and projected growth. The solutions proved ideal, not only helping to improve the facility’s distribution processes and supporting the direct channel’s high volumes of small orders but integrating with Urban Outfitters’ existing technologies as well. The company used Performance Management’s dashboard view and detailed reports to measure and analyze supply chain performance.
